Retroreflectivity Management

Retroreflectivity Management as presented by the MUTCD requires all agencies to maintain traffic signs to a minimum level of retroreflectivity. Various Retroreflectivity Management methods can be used to meet and maintain retroreflectivity requirements for traffic signs: Nighttime Visual Inspection, Measured Sign Retroreflectivity, Expected Sign Life Decals, Blanket Replacement or Control Signs

The MUTCD minimum retroreflectivity requirements are not intended to imply that agencies must measure the retroreflectivity of every sign in their jurisdictions. The various Retroreflectivity Management maintenance methods provide agencies with options that will improve nighttime sign visibility.
