The R7-21 Metered Parking Sign has been updated in legend design in the 2023 MUTCD 11th Edition. Section 2B.53 p. 126 | Figure 2B-25 p. 124

The 2009 MUTCD legend has a green circle with black P icon for permissive parking and uses the words pay parking. Install by 1/18/2026. Replace existing signs with a 2023 MUTCD legend at end of sign life.

The Updated 2023 MUTCD legend has been redesigned in style with a header, metered parking instead of pay parking verbiage, times and arrow.

If a fee is charged for on-street parking and payments are made at a multi-space parking meter, instead of individual parking meters for each parking space, Metered Parking (R7-21 and R7-22) signs should be used to define the area where the multi-space parking meter applies.
