Object Marker Faces for the end of street guardrails warn and alert road users to the guardrail adjacent to or within the roadway.

NOTE: Rectangle object marker faces can be used vertically or horizontally. Rectangle Faces can be rotated 90 degrees for use as opposite stripe direction. Example: Rotate a rectangle "right" stripe 90 degrees (from horizontal to vertical) to use as "left" stripe. Rotate 180 degree and the rectangle "right" stripe remains a "right" stripe. About Object Marker Stripes

Black/Yellow Stripes: indicates warning in permananent locations
Rectangle Object Markers: Rectangle faces can be used vertically or horizontally. Rectangle Faces can be rotated 90 degrees for use as opposite stripe direction. Example: Rotate a rectangle "right" stripe 90 degrees (from horizontal to vertical) to use as "left" stripe. Rotate 180 degree and the rectangle "right" stripe remains a "right" stripe. Shown Above Left.
Square Object Markers: Can be used as both "right" and "left" options by simply rotating them 180 degree. Shown Above Right: Rotate the "left" object marker, it becomes a "right".

About Object Markers

The purpose of object markers is to mark obstructions located within or adjacent to the roadway including underpass piers, bridge abutments, handrails, ends of traffic barriers, utility poles, and culvert headwalls. Other roadside conditions, such as narrow shoulders, drop-offs, gores, small islands, and abrupt changes in the roadway alignment, that might make it undesirable for a road user to leave the roadways, also create a need for a marker. Refer to the MUTCD for more information.

Above Grade Clearance for Object Markers: 4 feet from the ground to the bottom of the object marker.
Type 1 Object Markers: Used to mark obstructions within the roadway.
Type 2 Object Markers: Used to mark obstructions adjacent to the roadway.
Type 3 Object Markers: Used to mark obstructions adjacent to or within the roadway.
Type 4 Object Markers: Used to warn and alert road users of the end of a roadway.
